Android users must take note of this. A new version of the Legacy Native (LeNA app) is able to take control your device remotely and gain root permission. According to LookOut Mobile Security the LeNA app malware makes use of an exploit called GingerBreak to gain root permission of your device. It does not even need your interaction or permission while gaining the root access to your phone.

The new variant of LeNA simply hides itself as a legitimate app, it can even disguise as a fully functional copy of the recently released Angry Birds Space or hide among other apps.

The malware is able to install packages from remote server without the phone user's notice. LeNA has been spotted on alternative Android markets but not the Google Play. So, if you've been downloading Android apps from other sources instead of Google Play, then your device is very likely at risk.
