Ever wondered what it would be like to own a clock like the one which the Weasley family owned in the Harry Potter series of books? What was seemingly an idea from a fantasy just got freakishly real, with a little help from Christopher "Kirgy" McKirgan. A student of theology, this British hacker was always interested in computing. His passion for hacking coupled with a serious devotion to Foursquare, a popular geo-tagging and location sharing service, prompted him to take up this project and make the Foursquare Clock a reality.

Powered by an "arduino" device, the Foursquare Clock is a mix of intelligent programming and the Foursquare API, which lets people use their own programs with the Foursquare database. The Clock has two sections, the bottom section sporting a selection of eight favorite places, and the top with a dial that shows how much time has been spent in the current place. The ingenious device is housed in the frame of an old mantelpiece clock, its antique look-and-feel the perfect foil for the innovation within.

In use, the Clock points to the current location and the dial shows how many hours have been spent at that location. This idea was seen earlier in WhereDial but Christopher's design has the extra feature that shows the duration of time spent at each place. It is a novel idea which would definitely score points with millions of Foursquare fans around the world.
