One of the most frustrating things of air travel is to wait by crowded conveyer belts for your baggage to arrive. Besides, one time I almost walked out with someone else's bag, mistaking it for mine! To avoid such situations, I reckon the Tag Finder can come very handy. The nametag part is attached to your luggage and a 'finder' tab stays with you. When the two are in range, the bag-tag automatically detects the counterpart and beeps it a signal for easy location. It is an ideal solution, however given the sense of heightened security measures in place these days at airports, I doubt we will be able to use such products.

Tag Finder is a 2011 iF concept design entry.

A printer is an essential device that is attached to the computer or laptop through USP port. It responds to the textual and graphical inputs of the computer by means of output like paper printouts or printed images. These printouts are either in black and white combination or in color formats and are available as text form or pictorial images. The types of printers vary according to the size, speed, price and sophistication, and range from dot matrix to laser and ink jet printers. When size is the chief concern in the recent times due to scarcity of space in the office cubicle or in homes, there is an inclination of people towards the various computer peripherals and devices that are portable in size and will utilize much lesser space. Therefore, printers that are portable in size but efficient in function and sleek to look at are the perfect choice of today's generation. Here are five such portable printers that are great value for your money.

BlackBerry PlayBook

This is a guest post from by Joe Pawlikowski from BBGeeks.

Can you convince someone to pay full price for a year-old tablet? It doesn't sound like an appetizing proposition, yet it's what RIM might have to do come February. As Robb noted earlier, the PlayBook will not get native email, contacts, calendars, or BBM until February. That's not only disappointing because it's four months from now, but because RIM was supposed to unleash the update right around now. It's left me weeping into my PlayBook.

This leaves RIM in quite a pickle. Had they released PlayBook OS 2.0 this month, or even early next month, they could have made a holiday push and perhaps beat some sales estimates. Tablets are going to fly off shelves in the next two months, and a fully functional PlayBook compares well to other tablets on the market. But a PlayBook that requires you to tether a BlackBerry smartphone to get basic functions? While I love my Verizon BlackBerry Bold tethered to my PlayBook, that's going to be a tough sell to the general market.

While customers snap up tablets such as the Kindle Fire and the Samsung Galaxy Tab, RIM has to continue focusing on the same market it's had for the past six months: BlackBerry users. There are certainly some BlackBerry customers who have held off and will buy a PlayBook this holiday season. But that's a small segment of a limited market. Lost are other smartphone users who might have found the PlayBook useful. I feel strongly that many would have, because I feel that the PlayBook is at least as good as any Android tablet on the market. Now we won't get to see how they compare.

RIM's real problem, though, is how to handle marketing once they do release PlayBook OS 2.0. At that point the PlayBook will be be 10 months old. Chances are we'll have heard strong rumors of an iPad 3. A number of manufacturers will have release, and will have plans for, powerful Android tablets. Again, the PlayBook holds up to the current tablets, but plenty changes in just a few months. RIM will have to market its tablet against even better ones. That could prove a difficult endeavor.

Furthermore, the issues with the PlayBook could make it more difficult for RIM to produce a successful follow-up device. There were rumors of a 10-inch tablet in the future, but RIM reportedly cancelled those plans in order to focus on BBX smartphones. Eventually, though, a follow-up tablet will have to enter their plans. We've seen that they're capable of putting together a fine piece of hardware, but the hardware doesn't sell the tablet. They'll have to convince a skeptical market that this time they have it right. Given the alternatives, it won't be an easy proposition.

The whole PlayBook escapade makes me think back to early 2011, when the PlayBook was still a concept. Sure, Mike Lazaridis had taken it on a mini tour, but there were few aspects of the tablet that were finalized. In fact, in late January we heard the mother of all rumors: the PlayBook could have acted as an Android tablet. It wouldn't have been a pure Android tablet, as it would still have run QNX. But they would have worked with Google to provide a "certified" Android app that would have included the full Market, including the Gmail app. That might have been the most exciting PlayBook rumor we ever heard.

I can't help but think that RIM made a mistake in not taking this path. Of course, it's easy to say that now, in hindsight, given how the PlayBook has developed. But journey back to that time, in January 2011. If RIM knew that it wouldn't launch the PlayBook with native email, contacts, and calendars, and they didn't know they'd get that update out soon — and really, a summer update was the best case scenario at the time — wouldn't they have been better off biting the bullet and just riding the Android wave for their first tablet?

The benefits could have been astounding. They would have put their QNX operating system on display, but would have backed it with thousands of apps from the Android Market. They would have gotten the native Gmail client, which can filter in other webmail addresses. Contacts and calendars would have been there from Google, and those do sync with your BlackBerry device. But most importantly, they would have offered a fully-functional tablet at launch. With just a little buzz, they could have built some momentum and then rolled that into the next PlayBook release, the one that would feature BBX in all its glory.

Of course, this is a fruitless exercise now. RIM chose their path, and they're stuck with the decision. Things are not looking too bright for the PlayBook currently. They did a phenomenal job with the hardware and the operating system, but none of the other pieces have yet fallen into place. Maybe they will come February, but by that point it might be too late. It's sad, mostly. I really liked my PlayBook, and was really looking forward to these updates.

The FaceTime video calling is cool, allowing you to make free video calls to iOS devices and to Mac computers. But you can't make FaceTime calls from your iPhone to a PC user or from a PC to your iPhone. Now, there is a solution for PC users who wish to communicate with iOS device users by video calling. It's Nimbuzz which allows you to make video calls between PC and iOS devices.

Nimbuzz is meant for Windows computers and iOS devices. You'll be able to make video calls using Nimbuzz from PC to iOS device, iOS to PC, iOS device to iOS device over 3G and WiFi. You'll also be able to make video calls without audio, which only allows users to see each other and communicate by typing text on networks that have restricted VOIP services.

Nimbuzz is now available for the iOS devices, which is a good alternative to FaceTime, you can download it from Apple App Store. It at least lets you make video calls to PC users using your iPhone. The Android and Symbian versions will be available in the future as well.

It's a little sad that we live in a world where we constantly worry about someone stealing our possessions. After all, it's a hassle to lock up your bike every time you need to park it somewhere. I mean, you could risk it and just not bother, but if it does get stolen, you won't be happy at all. Wouldn't it be better to just deal with having a lock? Heck, you could even get an inconspicuous one like this Bottle Lock.

The bottle lock looks much like an ordinary water bottle, and fits in the appropriate holder found on most bikes. Just pull out the 5′ cable, loop it around something sturdy (don't forget to loop it around the bike frame) and then lock the end back into the "bottle." If you're wearing a pair of those tight bike shorts and don't have room for your keys or cash, there's even a place in the bottom to store small items such as those. At $34, it isn't going to cost much more than an ordinary lock, and looks a lot better when not in use.

The US's military drones can do a bunch of things, but they aren't the only drones in town. Currently in development by the Japanese Defense Ministry, the ball-shaped drone you see in the picture (and in the video below) can do some things regular drones can't. Its spherical shape allows it to roll around the ground and land pretty much anywhere. It can takeoff vertically, but once in flight can deploy wings for forward travel at 60km/h (that's 37 mph for you Yanks). If it hits an obstacle, it simply keeps on trucking like nothing happened (watch the demonstrator in the video slap it around some).

The prototype you see in the video was made with commercially available parts costing around $1,400. But that also means that it's nowhere near final specification as production models will likely have parts engineered specifically for it. Consider this a proof of concept, so that 8 minute flight autonomy is more than likely to increase with later iterations. Currently it weighs 350g (12 ounces?) and is meant primarily as a reconnaissance craft.

Apparently plastic bags are a resourceful means to collect morning dew and many mountaineers use it to collect water. Needless to say, not all climbers are conscientious enough to carry back their litter, and as a result many of our peaks are getting polluted. To offer a better alternative, we have here the Succulent Concept, a mock up of a succulent plants. It helps collect and filter in the morning dew, directly into a bottle and is easily portable.

The Succulent is a 2011 Liteon Award entry.

BlackBerry PlayBook

Rumor has it that BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0, the update that is supposed to include native email support along with a BBM client, isn't going to come out until mid February of next year.  I was going to name this post BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Delayed, but, seeing how RIM only said that BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 would be out shortly after BlackBerry DevCon, calling it delayed wouldn't be as accurate as stating that it is going to take forever to come out.

The reason for the hold up is RIM is having difficulty getting BlackBerry ID working with multiple PINs, which, would allow you to connect to mail, calendar, contacts, and BBM from both your BlackBerry and your PlayBook sharing information between the two devices.  If this rumor turns out to be true, and, we are looking at another 4 months for the BlackBerry PlayBook to be able to do things promised to be coming 3 to 4 months ago, I dare say that it will be a long winter for BlackBerry powered tablet devices.

Concepts are a love/hate sort of thing at OhGizmo. Mostly hate because we rarely get to buy and own them, although there have been exceptions. We wish the Digimo Camera becomes one such exception as it looks like a really cool way to take pictures. The device would essentially be two cameras joined together. When used in this way, you can capture pictures in 3D. The fun really begins when you split them. You can then position one camera somewhere and control it remotely via the other one. This can create picture taking opportunities that traditional cameras can't give you, as people and animals tend to behave differently when they know they're about to be shot. It goes without saying that the LCD on the remote camera would display what the picture-taking cam is seeing.

Check out the rest of the post for a bunch more pictures showing you the different types of scenarios the Digimo could enable. Again, this is just a concept right now, but here's hoping that it somehow makes its way into a real product.

A 200-inch full HD glasses-free 3D TV has been achieved by 57 HD projectors, with each of them projecting a slightly different image. The massive 200-inch glasses-free HD TV was setup by NITC and JVC Kenwood.

Each HD projector projects a slightly different image that was recorded with slightly different angle. They're being projected on a surface made up of special lenses and films, which result a 3D wall, which you can just walk around to get different views of. And the best is it's glasses-free.

Currently, the 3D walk allows for a mere 13 degrees of viewing angle. Increasing the viewing angle will need more projectors since each addition to the viewing angle requires a separate display system. Apparently, recording such a 3D video is no easy task as it needs to be recorded from many different angles – You'll need a separate camera for each perspective, which in this case you need one camera for every two centimeters. Watch the clip below for the impressive full HD 3D wall.
